Katandra Gardens Australian Native
Plant Gardens and Bed & Breakfast accommodation is situated
in Wandin, Victoria in the South East of Australia. Wandin
is in the Yarra Valley, which is particularly fertile and dotted
with fruit orchards, market gardens and wineries. The climate
is mild making the area very attractive with
lush plant growth and prolific bird life.
Katandra Gardens is central
to and within an easy drive of over seventy wineries, Healesville
Sanctuary, William Ricketts Sanctuary, Puffing Billy, The National
Rhododendron Gardens, Warburton, Mt Donna Buang, Mt Dandenong, Lavender
Farm, Museums, Walking Trails and more, yet is less than one hour's
drive from Melbourne.

From
Tullamarine Airport:
If you are coming from the airport the
quickest way would be to turn off the Tullamarine Freeway at
Bell Street (route no 40). (This is the last exit before the
Toll Way). Bell Street becomes Banksia Street. Follow through
to Manningham Road (still route 40), then right onto Williamsons
Road and Tram Road (still route 40). Turn left at the Eastern
Freeway to its end. Turn right onto Springvale Road, then very
soon turn left onto Maroondah Highway (Which is Whitehorse Road),
and it heads east. (route 34). Pass through Lilydale and head
along Maroondah Highway until you meet the Warburton Highway
turnoff. Turn right towards Warburton (B 380) and about
8km on you will see Wellington Road (A big "Katandra Gardens"
sign is there). Turn right and keep on Wellington Road
to the top of the hill then turn left into Hunter Road.
We are just five drives down on the left.
From
Melbourne:
If you are coming straight from Melbourne
use the Eastern Freeway then turn right at the end of the freeway
at Springvale Road, turn left onto Maroondah Highway (Which
is Whitehorse Road), and it heads east. (route 34). Pass through
Lilydale and head along Maroondah Highway until you meet the
Warburton Highway turnoff. Turn towards Warburton (B 380)
and about 6km on you will see Wellington Road (A big "Katandra
Gardens' sign is there). Turn right and keep on Wellington
Road to the top of the hill then turn left into Hunter Road.
We are just five drives down on the left.
Alternate Route from Melbourne:
Alternately, come from Melbourne via Canterbury Road, (route
32). Keep on this road (C 401). Turn right up York Road (C 402)
to the roundabout then follow C 404 for about 4km to Hunter
Road and stay on Hunter Road until you see our sign on the left.
If you have a "Melways Map", turn to Page 121 and we are on
C.3.
or a "UBD Map", then turn to Page 263 and we are on L.2.

Coming from Avalon Airport: (This will avoid tollways)
Take the Princes Highway and travel towards Melbourne., Turn
right onto the West Gate Freeway and over West Gate Bridge.
Enjoy the view from West Gate Bridge. After 55.5 km exit onto
Power Street, continue onto Whiteman Street, Turn left onto
Kings Way and onto King Street. Turn right onto LaTrobe Street
which runs into Victoria Street (Right).
Continue onto Victoria Street until you meet Hoddle Street,
Turn left on to Hoddle Street (29) Turn onto the Eastern Freeway
(83)(The exit to the freeway is from the left)
Travel east on the Eastern Freeway (M3) for 16.9 km until you
meet Springvale Road. Leave the freeway to avoid the tollway
and travel right along Springvale Road for 1.6 km to Maroondah
Highway (34), turn left onto Maroondah Highway and keep on the
highway for 20.6 km through Lilydale until you see the turnoff
towards Warburton (Warburton Highway (B 380).
Turn right onto the Warburton Highway B380 and continue along
Warburton Highway for 5.4 km.Turn Right into Wellington Road
and stay on Wellington Road until the top of the hill and it
meets Hunter Road. (2.5 km)
Turn left onto Hunter Road and Katandra Gardens is 400 metres

Coming from Avalon Airport (Avoids tollways and a more scenic
route but you miss the West Gate Bridge view of the city)
Start at: Avalon Airport Terminal
1. Head east - 0.1 km
2. Take the 1st left - 0.5 km
3. Take the 1st left, towards Beach Rd - 1.2 km
4. Slight right towards Beach Rd - 92 m
5. Turn left at Beach Rd - 0.9 km
6. Turn right to merge onto Princes Fwy - 38.2 km
7. Take the exit onto Western Ring Rd - 27.2 km
8. Continue onto Northern Ring Rd - 11.6 km
9. Turn left at Greensborough Hwy - 1.9 km
10. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Diamond Creek
Rd - 3.7 km
11. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Main St -
0.5 km
12. Slight right at Chute St - 0.2 km
13. Continue onto Main Hurstbridge Rd - 0.4 km
14. Turn left to stay on Main Hurstbridge Rd Go through
1 roundabout - 2.5 km
15. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Wattle Glen
Rd - 4.2 km
16. Turn right at Kangaroo Ground St Andrews Rd - 0.2 km
17. Take the 1st left on to Eltham Yarra Glen Rd - 17.2
km
18. Continue onto Symond St - 1.0 km
19. Turn right at Melba Hwy - 4.6 km
20. Turn left to stay on Melba Hwy - 0.8 km
21. Turn right to stay on Melba Hwy - 3.2 km
22. Continue onto Maroondah Hwy - 3.3 km
23. Slight left at Warburton Hwy - 5.4 km
24. Turn right at Wellington Rd - 2.5 km
25. Turn left at Hunter Rd and Katandra Gardens is 400 metres
down on the left |

Coming from Avalon Airport: (A more simple way but you
will hit a tollway)
Take the Princes Highway (M 1) and travel towards Melbourne.,
Turn right onto the West Gate Freeway (still M 1)and over West
Gate Bridge.
Enjoy the view from West Gate Bridge.
Continue on the West Gate Highway to Burnley tunnel (Approx
57 km) (This is a tollway) Slight left at Barkley
Avenue exit. Take the first left on to Burnley Street (Just
1.4 km). Turn right at Bridge Road and continue onto Burwood
Road (Approx 4.5 km until you find Burke Road on your left.
Turn left into Burke Road and go just 0.4 km before turning
right into Canterbury Road, (route 32). Keep on this road (C
401) for a total of 28.6 km. Turn right up York Road (C 402)
to the roundabout then follow C 404 for about 4km to Hunter
Road and stay on Hunter Road until you see our sign on the left.
If you have a "Melways Map", turn to Page 121 and we are on
C.3.
or a "UBD Map", then turn to Page 263 and we are on L.2.
